Cat lover welcomes a surprise kitten only for the CDS to strike again eight days later in dramatic fashion

The CDS must have decided one kitten wasn't enough, because eight days after the first delivery, another one came flying in with significantly more drama.

The first kitten made the whole adoption thing look ridiculously easy. On June 26, a little gray girl followed the family's outdoor cat through the back door and proceeded to make herself comfortable. That's one way to skip the entire adoption process. She found an open door, followed her new feline friend inside, and decided she lived there now. No arguments from the hoomans. She's since gotten her shots and boosters, is in perfect health, and already has her spay scheduled. A pretty successful home invasion, if you ask us.

The second delivery took a much more chaotic route.

On July 4, the family was outside watching fireworks when an orange kitten decided crossing a major city intersection sounded like a good idea. He bolted from a bush and ran straight across the road, somehow dodging several cars along the way. Orange cats have a reputation for sharing one brain cell, but this little guy really didn't need to prove the stereotype quite so dramatically.

A teenage girl walking nearby saw what was happening and immediately ran after him. She crossed the road, caught the kitten, ran back through traffic, placed him directly into the dad's lap, and hurried off. One minute the family was watching fireworks. The next, Dad was holding a surprise orange kitten. The CDS really nailed the doorstep delivery on that one.

He's also gotten his shots and boosters and is doing well aside from a small issue with one eye. His neuter will be scheduled soon, and even the resident cats have welcomed both newcomers.

The kittens are now Smokey and John Henry, and their delivery methods couldn't have been more different.

One walked through the front door. The other practically stopped traffic.

They’ve got a whole little feline family now, and having the resident cats accept the two newcomers makes the story even sweeter. Bringing one new kitten home can shake things up, let alone two surprise CDS deliveries within days of each other. Somehow, everyone is getting along and the newest members have already found their place in the crew. These two didn’t just luck into a safe home. They also got a ready-made group of feline siblings to grow up with.

The CDS doesn’t care whether you’re prepared to accept a package or not. When your delivery is ready, a kitten is showing up one way or another. Sometimes they walk right through the door, and sometimes they arrive a little late and make up for it with an extra dramatic entrance. There’s no tracking number, no delivery window, and definitely no option to reschedule. You just have to trust that the CDS knows when and where each feline package needs to arrive.

Dad may not have been expecting a kitten to suddenly land in his lap, but he pulled through when the CDS called. One second he was outside watching fireworks with the family, and the next he was holding their newest little feline addition. That’s quite the change of plans for one evening. He could have questioned the unexpected delivery, but instead this little guy ended up with a safe place to call home. Major shoutout to Dad for rolling with the surprise!
